Let's Welcome the Amtrak back to Tallahassee!

After the devastating pass of Hurricane Katrina by the city of New Orleans in 2005, the Amtrak Sunset Limited Route from New Orleans to Jacksonville was severely damaged, and was the reason that this route was closed down. Since then State, County and rail interest groups have joined together to see how to restore the Gulf Coast line. Almost 11 years later, the North Florida route might be reopened for passengers and this sure does  make us happy!! Imagine traveling from New Orleans all the way to Jacksonville and enjoying the lovely nature views that only Florida can give.

Let's support our Tallahassee community and be present when that train stops here this Friday February 19th, at 2:37pm at our historic railroad depot, which is located at 918½ Railroad Avenue. There will be speeches, music and of course, some food...who would want to miss out on that?

When you hear the famous "All aboard" phrase, the celebration will move to Rail Road Square (Proof Brewery), with a live band from New Orleans and an assortment of  local food trucks.  Food, drink, music and friends - a GREAT combination!
